Friday 4th October and our return match at home to Lydd GC and looking for revenge.

Also we are the first group to have breakfast in the new clubhouse/restaurant and everyone agreed that Jack and Sophie have done an amazing job. Breakfast was excellent.

Good day had by all, a little bit of rain but not too bad. More importantly we won 4.5 to 1.5.

See you next year Lydd

Friday 20th September, our return match at home to West Malling GC. Once again a beautiful day for golf. As usual the company of the WM members was brilliant and a great day was had by all. Perhaps more by The Ridge as WM may have faced the backlash of us losing against Kingsnorth as we had a whitewash although all the matches appeared to have been hard won. Many thanks West Malling, we'll see you next year.

Wednesday 25 September at a wet and windy Lydd. Someone did say that they saw blue sky but we think it was probably the eye of the hurricane!

Course was in great condition and it was good to see the guys from Lydd once again.

Unfortunately perhaps our win against Kingsnorth went to our heads as we lost. 4 to Lydd and 2 halved.

We'll get our revenge next week!

Wednesday 17th September, our return match at Kingsnorth GC. Lovely weather, great and fun company. Pity about the golf! Lost 5.5 to 0.5.

Winner of the Club Championship was Ziggy Trzebinski. Awaiting further details

Friday 30th August 2019.

4 club challenge.

Winner was Alan Corbishley with 36 points on count back.

2nd also with 36 Peter Walter.

3rd and some compensation for losing the cricket world cup with 34 points was Rod Hayes!

Sorry I wasn't there to take the prize.

Nearest the pin in 2 on the 13th hole was Dave (the Beast) Robertson.

Total of 28 entrants, well played everybody.

Wrinklies Trophy.23rd August 2019

23 wrinkled golfers turned up, some wishing they hadn't (Pete Walters, Dave Robertson and Terry Brister to name a few)

The result was a winning score of -11 on countback to Hugh MacCabe.

Pete Seal was second and on -3 was Peter Walter.

Well played all except those 3 at the top!

Wednesday August 21st 2019 at London Beach.

Greeted by the usual ribald comments by the home team and a great bunch of guys.

Beautiful conditions on the course and the weather was perfect. everyone agreed it was a really good day and the food at the end was excellent. Result was 4-2 to the Ridge which is an obvious failing on our part because if LB win at home the management provide the wine!

Must not try so hard next time.

Captain Peter complaining about putting his ball in a hole in a tree (see picture). Looked like a pitching wedge shot to me !

Friday August 2nd 2019. Boughton GC at home.

We went looking for revenge after being beaten away and we had a really good result and won 5-1 but this is secondary to the good fun we had with our guests on a brilliant day for golf.

Good weather, excellent company and an enormous meal to finish. Thank you Boughton, looking forward to next year already.

July 12th 2019. Vets Summer Texas Scramble.

48 entries, 16 teams and really nice to see the ladies section joining us.

Could we have had better weather to play golf? I think not. Beautiful day, Pete Walters obviously has contacts in high places!

Results were:

1st place.  Peter Stringer, Ray Haydon, Mick O'Brien, Pete Walters

2nd place. Julia Martin-Harper, Mike Skinner, Hugh MacCabe

3rd place.  Val Rands, Roger Smith, and John Randall.

Nearest the pin on the 4th: Jimmy Fensome

Excellent BBQ aferwards, hopefully we can have another competition in the not too distant future.

London Beach at home on 7th June 2019.

To say it was a trifle damp is something of an understatement but 24 brave souls went out and played. The rain did eventually relent but a few drowned rats headed back to the clubhouse.

As usual the game was played in a friendly manner and a great time was had by all.

The London Beach team was enhanced by the addition of Peter Walter and Mick O'brien who to their shame beat Peter Seal and Alec Bosley!

Match result was 3.5 to 2.5 to The Ridge.

Thanks to LB and see you in August.

Poult Wood joined us at The Ridge on 21st June 2019. The weather didn't let us down and we had a great day with a lovely group of guys.

To say the result was a little one sided is something of an exaggeration! The Ridge won 5 1/2 to 1/2! 2 of the results were 8 and 7 and 7 and 6.

A massive chicken dinner followed this and Barrie from Poult Wood promised there would be revenge when we go there later this year.

10th May 2019, home match against Kingsnorth GC.

Second year that we have played against Kingsnorth and another enjoyable day with a great group of people. Although the result was 4 wins and 2 A/S to The Ridge, I think the result was second to the good time we had out there on the course. Look forward to the return

20th May 2019 and West Malling GC on their Hurricane course. Weather started a little overcast but improved during the morning and turned into a wonderful day to play golf. Match was played in the spirit that it deserved and the guys from The Ridge were lavish in their praise for the course. Perhaps not as lavish in the performance as we lost 4-2 but we had a great day and can't wait to welcome West Malling on the return leg when we shall look for revenge.

Ist AKVG match of the season at North Foreland GC. What a lovely course in a splendid setting.

4 brave souls ventured there (Pete Langmaid, Gary Thompson, Pete Walters and myself Terry Brister). Apart from Gary scoring 37 points the rest of us must try harder. Good golfing companions and a very tasty carvery to finish the day.

Friday 5th April and the first friendly match of the season for Pete Walters against Boughton (away)

Pete wrote "Unfortunately we lost 4-2. Good day though, course played better than we did!"

We'll get our own back on the return!

17th April 2019. Captains away day on the Hurricane course at West Malling golf club.

Pete Walters obviously has connections as the weather was brilliant, the course was in great condition and the golf was really enjoyable. I believe that everybody had a good time.

There were 2 nearest the pin prizes won by JP and Rob Atwood. The match result was a convincing 5.5 to 1.5 win for the immediate past captains (Terry Brister) team.

Great day, good company.
